whalefm.jpg Are you a whale fan? Do you like to listen to the sounds whales make when they communicate? If so, go to WhaleFM, a new joint project of the Zooniverse and Scientific American, where you can listen in AND contribute to scientific research all at the same time. The aim of WhaleFM is to group similar sounding whale calls together for further analysis by marine scientists. Contributors listen to whale sounds and find the closest match for them. There is a tutorial for those interested in taking part in the research. At present the site displays calls from both Orcas and Pilot Whales.
