Data Repository of the Week - the Australian Data Archive

Blogs > eScholarship: research data, publishing, impact ...

Data repositories allow researchers to preserve and share research data over the long term. We aim to showcase a different data repository each week to raise awareness of these services.

ada.jpg The Australian Data Archive (ADA) is a new, national service for the collection and preservation of digital research data. It makes these data available for secondary analysis by academic researchers and other users. Registered ADA users can analyse and visualise most data online.

The ADA comprises 7 sub-archives:

  • Social Science
  • Historical
  • Indigenous
  • Longitudinal
  • Qualitative
  • Crime & Justice
  • International

Data held by the Australian Social Science Data Archive (ASSDA) is currently being migrated across to ADA. ASSDA will become part of ADA. ADA will provide all the data and services currently available through ASSDA, as well as offering new material and data formats

The ADA is provided by a consortium of leading national Australian universities. Managed by the Australian National University, it includes nodes at the University of Melbourne, The University of Queensland, University of Technology Sydney and University of Western Australia.
