Who's supervising the supervisors?
Supervisors play a key role in directing the work of
research higher degree students. But how good are supervisors at keeping up
with new research tools and information sources? Good? Average? Poor?
If information literacy is defined as:
... knowing when and why you need information, where to find it, and how to evaluate, use and communicate it in an ethical manner ... how well do supervisors rate?
A report entitled The role of research supervisors in information literacy from the Research Information Network looks at this question in detail.
