Rome wasn't digitised in a day
eResearch doesn't only happen in the sciences. It is burgeoning
in the humanities as well - with giant digitisation and transcription projects,
data mining and visualisations now part of the eHumanities landscape.
Rome Wasn't Digitized in a Day: Building a Cyberinfrastructure for Digital Classicists is a lengthy exploration of classical studies and how this multi-disciplinary field - one that that encompasses history, literature, linguistics, art, anthropology, science, and mythology - has changed in the digital age.
The 318-page report, by Alison Babeu, is published by the Council on Library and Information Resources. It covers the advanced technologies and services now available to digital classicists, explains the existing cyberinfrastrucrure for digital humanities and then provides an overview of selected projects, such as the Digital Humanities Observatory, Project Bamboo, TextGrid and TextVRE.
