DOIs on tap

ands.jpg Researchers in Australia will soon be able to apply for a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for their data, as the Australian National Data Service gears up to start issuing them. A pilot project on data citation will be underway very soon, with a couple of institutions involved in testing the service. So, just as ANDS already has a Publish My Data service, there will soon be a Cite My Data service. The key to getting a DOI will be if the dataset has a guaranteed, long term home.

Not sure what a DOI or an easily discoverable data description might do for you? Have a look at ANDS' Research Data Australia, and imagine it's your dataset featured in the front window. RDA also offers a good way to find existing data.
