Research Information Service - BEL Newsletter - February 2013
UQ Library has recently purchased the Sunday Times Digital Archive 1822-2006. The Sunday Times broke some of the key stories of the 20th Century, including the exposure of Kim Philby as a Soviet double agent and campaigned successfully for compensation for those adversely affected by Thalidomide.
The advanced searching option allows searches to be limited to specific sections of the newspaper, e.g. Business, Finance and Markets.
The Library has subscribed to the new Data Citation IndexSM from Thomson Reuters. This database is designed to be the first single source of data discovery for the sciences, social sciences and arts and humanities. Data Citation Index fully indexes a significant number of the world's leading data repositories of critical interest to the scientific community, including over two million data studies and datasets. The records for the datasets, which include authors, institutions, keywords, citations and other metadata, are connected to related peer-reviewed literature indexed in the Web of KnowledgeSM.
Sydney Morning Herald Archives
The Library has revived its subscription to the online archive of the Sydney Morning Herald, covering the years 1955-1995. This is the only digital version of a significant Australian newspaper from this period, so it is an important resource for researchers in all areas of Australian studies. You will need a username and password to access it, and these can be obtained from the Library website

Update on Metrics

These publishers, among others, will greatly enhance available content in the Index by adding 10,000 books in 2013, increasing the total to nearly 50,000 books from a variety of commercial, non-profit and university presses worldwide.

The Library's Strategic Plan
The Library is developing a new strategic plan for 2013 - 2016. To help us align our strategies for the future with the wishes and expectations of our user community, we are asking the question: If the Library genie offered you three wishes - what would you wish for ?
Please tell us what you would wish for on the Library's Strategic Planning Blog
We are also asking people if they would like to do a short video interview (around a minute) telling us what services they would like from the Library. The videos will be drawn together as a collage to be screened at the launch of the official start of the planning process. If you would like to be part of the video presentation please click "Yes" at the bottom of the "genie wishes" form.
