A little light reading?...

Blogs > Law Library Blog

Perhaps when the exams are over you might want to read about something other than the Law?

The Law Library occasionally purchases legal thrillers and non-law books. We're able to do this thanks to a legacy donated in 1949 in memory of John Macrossan. You might have noticed the Macrossan Memorial Library cabinet and information near the entrance of the Library. The terms of the legacy indicate that the items purchased using this fund must be items of interest to students in the Faculty of Law "but not such as are ordinarily acquired by the University Library for the purpose of the studies pursued by students..."

Recent purchases include a number of books by Lisa Scottoline featuring the character Cate Fante - a female judge, In the Shadow of the Law, a novel by Kermit Roosevelt (of the University of Pennsylvania Law School) and Limitations by Scott Turow - "one of the greater writers of legal thrillers" (The Times).

If you know of any other books or movies with a legal slant which would be suitable for purchase from this fund, please let us know!

Hey The John Grisham books are really good legal thrillers and he is considered as a "master of the legal thrillers". I think he used to be a lawyer and a member in HOR in his state too. Well-just to let you know :)

Thanks Flo We have some of Grisham's books, but I'll check to see if there are any recent titles that we've missed.
