Ideas!

Hi,
One only needs to look around to see how wonderfully insightful some people can be. Did you know that the combover is the patented invention of Father and Son team Frank and Donald Smith of Orlando Florida? Since US patent no. 4022227 was granted, the combover has been used to great effect on the small screen by ITV's "The Baldy Man" and Handy Manny's Mr Lopart. Who would have thought that it would be possible to "cover partial baldness using only the hair on a person's head" and make that area virtually indistinguishable from the remaining hair? OK….so maybe insightful is a strong word in this case, as many combovers don't quite live up to this hype when it comes to design and execution.

One truly insightful idea that has come to fruition on our campus recently, thanks to those in the PVCs office, is the umbrella initiative! You may have noticed, as you enter the library, a container within which reside some rather fetching umbrellas. These containers have turned up in several buildings on campus. The premise is simple: on a rainy day take an umbrella from the container if you are travelling to another building on campus. The umbrella can then be deposited into the corresponding container upon arrival at the destination building, no need to get wet and no need to be burdened with a wet umbrella, it's win/win. Far from being mere "rainy day" friends these umbrellas give great protection from the sun, particularly for anyone, such as myself, who does have a need for patent no.4022227 but fails to understand the finer points.

Congratulations to Cole Cage who took home the guitar from Music Trivia and to Stephen McGeorge who won the Trivia comp and all of the associated accolades and prestige. Well done!
