Week 6 Semester 2

Blogs > Ipswich Library Blog

Hi All, Firstly, I need to apologise for the fact that there was no blog last week. It was removed for legal reasons. After I wrote my blog last week, which was filled with Olympic zeal, I received a communiqué from the legal office of the IOC reminding me that I was not the official University Library related blog of the Beijing Olympics and should refrain from mentioning the aforementioned games. The communiqué went on to mention, that even if I did seek accreditation, there was a list of 489 topics which I should not discuss, 312 of which I mentioned in my blog. Not being one to rock the boat, I immediately sent my details and credit card numbers to the hotmail account provided on the form. My accreditation should be arriving anytime now, and I will finally be able to publish last week’s blog.

Did you know that if you put the word “phishing” into the Factiva database and search all Australian newspapers in the last 3 months you get 57 hits?

Marcos, you should read a book called "Yes Man". This guy embarked on a long-term project of saying yes to everything, including phishing offers in his email, and met a lot of interesting people.

Marcos, I think you would enjoy a book called "Yes Man" by Danny Wallace. Danny made a long-term commitment to say yes to everything, even offers from phishing emails, and met a lot of interesting people.

I heard an interview with Danny Wallace. It was an incredibly bareve thing he did. There is a very thin line between bravery and stupidity.
