Week 9

Blogs > Ipswich Library Blog

Hi All, It's week 9 so I thought I had better do something meaningful. Today I have the evidence to debunk a theory that was put forward, with some confidence, in a recent health magazine! The theory goes that if you think about food your metabolism will increase and you will lose weight. I put my mythbusters hat on and went to work. My theory was if thinking about something causes ostensibly the opposite to happen, if I think about not writing this blog on Sunday the computer will start up, programs will start and the blog will be generated. After all programs are the computer’s metabolism. I awoke on Monday morning, no blog. I then thought that perhaps I needed to think of not writing something specific. Again I set the test in motion. Tuesday morning- No Blog. I consider this myth busted. As further evidence I thought of a great deal of food on the weekend and actually put on weight! I thought about having only 3 courses at the restaurant on Saturday night but ended up actually having 5, which took a lot of thinking. I thought about having a kebab on the way home. When at home I thought “was there a correlation between the food I ate and the pain in my stomach”. With all that thinking, I thought I was sure to lose weight. Unfortunately this was not the case.

One thing that will not be mythbusted, no matter how shonky the process, is the fact that today(Wednesday), in the library, Michael Fagg will be delivering the final, long awaited, episode of “Endnote parts 1 and 2” in eZone 1 at 10am. Marcos
