The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has released its fifteenth annual report on 'Assisted reproductive technology in Australia and New Zealand 2009'. Key findings from the report include:

• 48% increase in the use of assisted reproductive technologies from 2005-2009
• Age of women using autologous assisted reproductive treatment remains stable at 35.8 (when compared to 2008 35.7yrs)
• Drop in the rate of multiple birth continues as the practice of transferring single embryos becomes more common.
