healthcare rights.JPG The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights was officially launched in Queensland by the Hon Paul Lucas Deputy Premier, Minister for Health on 17 March 2010. The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights is the single charter of healthcare rights for Australia. The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights was developed by the Australian Commission of Safety and Quality in consultation with healthcare practitioners and consumers.

The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights is now active across Queensland Health, replacing the Queensland Health Public Patients Charter.

Queensland Health has developed a Policy Implementation Standard to support the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights. The Policy Implementation Standard has undergone stakeholder consultation and is available on the Queensland Health website: http://www.health.qld.gov.au/cpic/documents/Charter_Impl_Stand1.0.pdf

Supporting publications for the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights including brochures and posters can be ordered directly from Sales and Distribution Services (SDS) on 1800 801 123. Additional information on the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights is also available on the Queensland Health website: http://www.health.qld.gov.au/cpic//hlthcr_exp_improve/consumer_rights.asp
