“Awaken Mozambique” is a charitable Incorporated Association, which undertakes development projects in Mozambique. At present, these projects primarily focus on training and equipping local people in Beira Mozambique to transform their communities with sustainable development and capacity building, facilitated by microfinance projects.

When a committee member and medical colleague visited Beira last August/ September, she visited the medical school. The school is a faculty of the Catholic University of Mozambique which reopened only 6 years ago and which has just graduated its first cohort of 15 young doctors. The facilities of the school are very limited, and an area of need identified was to obtain textbooks and teaching aids for the school.
