Wentworth Group Science Program Scholarship

Blogs > Gatton & External Students Blog

Since its inception in 2002, the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists has been active in advancing solutions to secure the long term health of Australia’s land, water and biodiversity.

Comprised of eminent scientists and thinkers, the Group has three core tasks:

  • Driving innovation in the management of Australia’s land, water and marine and coastal resources;
  • Engaging business, community and political leaders in a dialogue to find and implement solutions to the challenge of environmental stewardship facing the future of Australian society;

  • Building capacity by mentoring and supporting young natural scientists and resource economists to develop their skills and understanding of public policy.

It is this last point that has prompted us to offer scholarships to post-graduate students in order to bridge the gap between science and public policy.

The 2011 scholarship funds are intended to be used for:

  • Direct mentoring with Wentworth Group scientists
  • Expenses to cover participation at a Wentworth Group Master Class

Above all, it is an opportunity to inspire and encourage the recipients to make a difference to Australia’s future.

The application form is available for download at http://www.wentworthgroup.org/science-program. Note – the scholarship cannot be used as a stipend

Applications close 5:00pm, 10th January 2011.
