Keyboard Shortcuts
At this time of the year you may wish that there was some way to
finish the many assignments you have to type much more quickly.
Sorry, I don’t know how to do that. However, there are some
keyboard shortcuts that you can use that may help save time.
You may already know about the editing shortcuts like Ctrl+C
(Copy), Ctrl+V (Paste) and Ctrl+X (Cut), and formatting shortcuts
like Ctrl+b (Bold), Ctrl+i (italics), Ctrl+u (underline). There are
other keyboard shortcuts that you may find useful when typing up
assignments. Holding down Ctrl+Shift and the Plus key, (usually
located next to the Delete key on your keyboard), will switch your
font to Superscript. Holding the keys down a second time will
switch back to normal font. Similarly holding down Ctrl and the
Plus key turns on Subscript, and holding them down a second time
turns it off.
There are many more keyboard shortcuts you may find useful. You can
find a list that relate specifically to Microsoft Word at the back
of the
Word Level 1 workbook available from Ask I.T. You can also find a
more comprehensive list of Microsoft Word keyboard shortcuts on the
Microsoft
website.
