These 2 hour workshops cover setting up an EndNote library and importing references from the databases you use e.g. Web of Science. Working with EndNote and Word. Please email us if you have any queries.

Final 2013 classes -- Endnote for Life and Health Sciences

Find out how to set up your own EndNote library and how to import records from searching databases or the library catalogue and use EndNote with your word processor to write papers and bibliographies.

Online Self-teaching tutorials also available.

Class Content:

At the end of this session class participants will be able to:

set up a new reference library
download references from databases
attach PDFs of journal articles to an EndNote record
search, sort and group within the library
choose an appropriate citation style to use with EndNote
use EndNote with Word to insert citations and create a bibliography

This class is delivered in one session but covers the same information as EndNote Part 1 and EndNote Part 2.

We suggest that you bring a USB for use in classes.
You will need to use your UQ username and password to access resources required in this class.
Due to the nature of the class, latecomers are not admitted.

Usual Duration: 3 hours
Prerequisite:

You should be able to:

Search the Library catalogue and save search results.
Find articles and save the information from a database.
Work with a word document

EndNote - capture web pages

Add webpages to EndNote using Firefox Add-on

Once installed a 'Capture' icon will be available on the Firefox toolbar. When on a webpage click on the capture icon. A new window opens, copies the page title, year and URL. Additional fields can be added.

You will need an EndNote Web account and to be logged in. Web pages can be added to the desktop version of EndNote or EndNote Web. You will also need to configure the Add-on for the desktop version of Endnote. Details are available in EndNote Web from the menu bar choose Options, Download Installers and Firefox Extensions.

Endnote for Life and Health Sciences

The Research Information Service - St. Lucia is offering Endnote classes with
Endnote 16 (aka Endnote X6).
There are 22 places available.
All sessions will be held in the Biological Sciences Library Building (Building 94) in Training Room 1 (ezone) on Level 2.
NOTE : Late arrivals are not accepted for this session.
NOTE : It is essential to have an established UQ username/password to
participate in this course.
NOTE : Please bring a usb device if you have one.

A solid introduction to Endnote v.16 (Endnote X6) bibliographic
referencing programme.
Endnote software helps you manage your references.
The session will cover:
Saving your references into an Endnote Library using Export, sorting and searching the library,
inserting references into a Word document, formatting a document in a
selected style, and how to get help with Endnote.
It does not cover the more advanced features such as editing styles or
filters.

EndNote workshops will be held in the Dorothy Hill Engineering & Sciences Library (Hawken Building 50) on:

  • Thursday January 31, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon
  • Tuesday February 19, 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm
  • Thursday March 28, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon

These 2 hour workshops will cover setting up an EndNote library and importing references from the databases you use e.g. Web of Science. Working with EndNote and Word to write papers and create bibliographies.

Booking is not required however there are only 16 places available.

EndNote X6 is now available

The latest EndNote version is now loaded on the library workstations.

You can also download a copy for your own computer, from the library's EndNote support page -
http://www.library.uq.edu.au/research-support/endnote.

New features include:
- an all-in-one layout
- a column to 'mark as read'
- a ratings field to rank articles
- global editing - especially useful to correct errors in sentence case in titles
- find and replace
- syncing to an online backup in EndNote Web
