Switch to My Library as default homepage

Blogs > Drupal Blog

my_library_promo.gifFrom Wednesday 27 April, the My Library site will be the default homepage for anyone who logs into a computer in the UQ Library.

The current login box will continue to appear on the desktop of Library computers so you can login as usual, with your UQ login or of you don't have one, as a guest.

After login you will notice some changes.

  1. The browser will start automatically - Firefox or Safari, depending on the operating system you are using (to get to the desktop, minimise or close the browser).
  2. The MyLibrary site will be the default home page. We have made the 'personalised' site available since February. Many of our users have used the site and provided positive comments. Thank you for your feedback. We have taken the comments into account in developing the site and we welcome your continued feedback on the site.

What you get

When you login to My Library, you will see widgets dedicated to specific activities, such as:

  • Search - Summon, the catalogue, course resources, databases, journals & newspapers, as well as general and specific search engines
  • My Activities - a summary of your current loans, holds, fines, document delivery
  • My Course Resources - direct access to your course reading lists, past exam papers and help with your assignments
  • Home library - opening hours and real-time computer availability at your favourite branch library
  • My Favourite links - put links to your favourite databases, ejournals and websites here

Customise the page

  • Re-arrange the panels - simply drag and drop into its new position
  • Don't need a particular panel - click on the X button
  • Temporarily hide a panel - click on the down-arrow
  • Bring back deleted panels - click on the Change settings button at the bottom of the page
  • Restore the settings - click on the Restore button at the bottom of the page
  • Coming soon - the ability to customise options within some of the panels, e.g. delete unwanted search options

Your Feedback

We'd like you to login to the My Library, try it out and let us know what you think of it.
