The release of the new Web of Knowledge platform (including the Web of Science) offers improved search functionality.

Download the 'Web of Science - Quick Reference Guide' and see some examples of search improvements here:

  • Elimination of Stop Words such as search for "Vitamin A"
  • Full hit counts: the search does not cease when the number of results approaches 100,000
  • Lemmatization: Automatic extension of query term to include plurals (such as "mice" includes "mouse")
  • Left hand truncation available for many search types
  • Improved Author Finder functionality
  • Support of the NEAR proximity operator
  • Automatic search for over 7,000 spelling variants ("color" and "colour")
  • You can now search Web of Science by ResearcherID.
