International Journal of Food Engineering

Blogs > Research Support: Engineering and Sciences

The library has just acquired access to the International Journal of Food Engineering produced by the Berkeley Electronic Press. The founding editor is Professor Xiao Dong Chen of Monash University. The IJFE covers the following areas :

  • heat, mass transfer and fluid flow in food processing

  • food properties, including thermal, chemical and mechanical properties

  • food microstructure development and characterisation

  • electronics and instrumentation in the food industry

  • control and system engineering for the food industry

  • application of artificial intelligence in food engineering research and in industry

  • food biotechnology

  • thermal processing

  • non-thermal food processing

  • separation and purification processes for food production

  • food engineering education (course instruction, innovations in laboratory development, and classroom problems)

  • plant design using conceptual design techniques

  • mathematical modeling and software development for food processing purposes

The journal aims to publish high quality articles in engineering disciplines related to food processing and contains critical reviews, research articles, hypotheses (innovative, scientific views and systematic arguments on future directions of research or new interpretations of topics), shorter communications on significant continuing research results deserving rapid publication, critical thoughts and comments in the form of letters to the editor, and microstructure images with clear descriptions.
