The School of Engineering may be interested to know more about the Engineering Collection database available via the Informit Online platform. This database is full text with an Australian slant, covering all broad engineering fields, including civil engineering, engineering of railroads and roads, mining & related operations, and sanitary & municipal engineering as well as specialist engineering areas and produced in conjunction with Engineers Australia.

Full text Engineers Australia reports are available via the Engineering Collection as are conference papers, working papers and other grey literature not easily unearthed in other databases. Scholarly/peer-reviewed sources are clearly marked but not all indexed sources are peer-reviewed or scholarly. RSS feeds are available. Search results can be exported and search history can be included in the output. The available help screens provide information about coverage, searching tips (including thesauri), working with search results as well as outputting those results.

The Informit Online platform provides access to indexing and abstracting services, but not full text access, to:

  • Australian Nuclear Science & Technology Information (ANSTI)
  • Australian Transport Index (ATRI)
  • Australian Engineering Database (ENGINE)
  • Australian Building Construction & Engineering Database (BUILD)
  • Chemical Engineering Reference User Bibliography (CHERUB)
  • Environmental Abstracts (EVA)

Full text access to TV news is also available and indexes Australian television news, current affairs and selected documentaries from the free-to-air networks with links to the digitised video content in a compressed format. All individual stories from a particular broadcast are indexed with a detailed synopsis. TV news is updated daily.
