Chewing for your oral health!

Blogs > Teeth Talk

A new chewing gum has been developed by scientists from the University of Kentucky (UoK) that may improve the oral health of millions of people who do not have access to fluoridated water and good quality dental care. When chewed over a period of 20 to 30 mins, the gum which contains an antimicrobial called KSL , releases chemicals which help dissolve plaque and clean teeth.

The gum may improve the lives of children born with AIDS in Africa, who experience painful dental problems. It may also appeal to the military, as getting treatment for injured soldiers can often put other’s in harm’s way.
