2009 Museums Alight! 16 May - 24 May 2009



Each year as part of International Museum Day (18 May), Museum & Gallery Services Queensland (M&GSQ) coordinates Museums Alight!, an annual week-long celebration that will “shine a light” on the collection items, contemporary art exhibitions, historical venues and stories of museums and galleries in every region of Queensland. This year’s International Museum Day theme is Museums and Tourism, focusing on what brings local visitors and passing travelers to see Queensland's museums and galleries.

M&GSQ has linked participating cultural institutions to Google Maps, including location, contact details, opening hours, images of the institution and a link to their profile on the M&GSQ website. The website also features galleries of institutions around Queensland discussing the question ‘What attracts tourists to your venue?’
