Tracking of global surface temperatures would be simplified by the existence of a unified data set with validated methods to adjust for systemic errors in the data, according to John Timmer in an Ars Technica piece. He was commenting on a Nature article, Robust warming of the global ocean. Timmer discusses the Argo Float system, which will eventually provide a growing body of high-quality data for climate scientists and others to work with.
