Things to do in O-Week

Blogs > BA First Year Community Library Blog

Hi Everyone,

An easy and useful thing to do during O-Week is to attend a Library Tour. Library Tours only take 30-45 minutes and are an excellent way to figure out the basics of the UQ Library. The libraries here at UQ are probably a lot larger than any library you have used previously so even knowing where the books are, where the computers are, even where you can just sit down and relax can be a lot easier if somebody has shown you - like on a Library Tour.

Throughout O-Week, Mon 22 Feb to Fri 26 Feb, Library tours will start at 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm. The Social Sciences and Humanities Library has an extra tour at 10:00 am each day during orientation week. Details are available from the UQ Orientation Event Planner. Each branch is running tours but if you are only able to make it to one, pick the library which best relates to your planned courses and for most of you that will probably be the Social Sciences & Humanities Library.

There are also Discover the UQ Library Sessions. These sessions are an introduction to the Library including the services, spaces and training available and also include time-saving tips on locating course resources and computers. Once again, details can be found at the UQ Orientation Event Planner.
