Scan to USB

To scan to a USB stick, you need:

  • A Library multifunction printer that is setup to scan to USB
  • Your UQ student ID or print/copy card and sufficient print credit
  • Your USB

It must be a USB stick, not a portable hard drive and the USB must be formatted for use with Windows. Please see Ask I.T. or an information desk to borrow a USB if necessary.

To start:

  1. Touch your student ID or print/copy card to the printer card scanner
  2. Insert your USB
  3. Place your scan material into the top feeder tray or onto the photocopy glass

Open your print account by touching your student ID card to the reader. Insert your USB stick on the right side of the printer.

Place your scan material into the top feeder tray - good for loose paper. Place your original onto the photocopy glass - use for books, etc.

  • If you see the External Memory pop-up screen, press Save to External Memory
  • If you see the printer menu screen, press External Memory
    • On the USB file list screen press Save on the right side of screen

Press Save Document to External Memory on the popup window. Press the External Memory button on the menu screen.

Scan Options

There are special options for scanning multiple pages from a book.

From the Scan Options page, click the buttons to change the settings:

Adjust the scan settings, including colour, double sided etc. Choose the duplex settings, single or double sided etc.

Choose the colour setting. If you don't want PDF - choose another file type for the scan.

  • Press the round Start button
    Note: this is a button below the touch screen
  • The printer will scan the material to USB

The scan will be processed and completed.

Multipage scanning from a book?

If you want to scan multiple pages from a book into one file - you will require an additional setting. If you do not require this information - skip to job completion.

  • Press Application in the bottom-right hand corner of the Scan Options page
  • Scroll right accross the settings and enable Separate Scan with a click
  • Press Close to return to Scan Options

Enable Separate Scan on the Application screen.

  • Press the round Start button
    Note: this is a button below the touch screen.
    At this point your original on the glass will be scanned.

For each additional page you wish to scan:

  • Position the next original on the glass
  • Press the Start button below the touch screen

To complete the scan

  • Press Finish on the screen
  • Then press Start to save to USB

Position each original and press Start. When all pages have been scanned, press Finish on Screen then press the Start button.

Job complete

  • Your print credit will be deducted and you will be returned to the User Box screen
  • Press the Small USB button on the upper right of the screen to perform another scan or log-off as described below

Log-out of the printer

To finish your print session:

Ensure you log-off by pressing the Log-out button
  • Press the Log out button on the right of the printer screen
  • Press Yes to confirm you wish to log off

Press Yes to confirm you wish to log off.

  • Collect your USB
  • Collect your scan materials: in the feeder on or on the glass
