Printing at Ipswich Campus

From a laptop computer:

  • You will be able to print to a library network printer from one of the Ipswich Library Loan Laptops. However, it is not possible to print directly to a library network printer from a Personal Laptop. On a Personal Laptop save your documents to a CD, USB, mapped student H drive or email the document to yourself. You can then login to a Library Workstation and print your document.

From a Library Workstation: Follow these steps…

  1. Open the document to be printed, choose File from the top menu, click on Print (Ctrl+P).

  2. A Print dialogue box will appear. Select the printer that you wish to use from the drop-down menu of the Print dialogue box.

  3. The available Printers are:

    1. The Ipswich Print Queue. This is the default printer which produces black and white prints on single sided A4 paper.
    2. The Building 8 Colour Printer. This is used to print A4 single sided colour pages.
    3. The Microsoft Office Document image Writer - When a network printer is not available this can be used to save the print job to an MDI format which will open in MS Office 2003 /2007 and can be printed later.
  4. Click on OK. to complete the Print Job.

I've just pressed Print. What do I do now?

To retrieve your document from the printer go to one of the printer terminals.

  1. Click on the Press Here to Vend button.

  2. The jobs are sent to the print queue with your UQ username as the identifier. This comes from how you have logged into the computer you were on.

  3. Click on the refresh Button to get an up todate print list. If your name is not on the screen scroll down the Menu "Owner /Job Name" and double click on your UQ Username.

  4. The screen will display a list of your current print jobs. You can identify which print jobs are which by looking under the "Min to Delete" the "Description" the number of "Pages" and the "Time" columns.

  5. Click on the document that you want to print and click the "Print" button. Do not select multiple print jobs - select only one print job at a time.

  6. Insert your print card on the card reader and take note of the amount of credit. When the card has been read there will be an audible "beep" and the value of credit on the card will be displayed.

  7. Check that the document has the correct amount of pages. You require the full amount of money of the print on your card before you can start the print job otherwise the money will be taken off the card and no document will be printed out. There is no refund. or example, if your print job has 10 pages, then you would require at least $1.20 on your print card before you decide to print. When you are satisfied that you have enough credit on your print card press the "OK" button.

  8. When the funds have been taken from your print card you should hear a beep (closing your print credit) and the printer should start printing the documents. Before you leave the print station check that your account has been closed. If your account is still open (ie you can still see credit on the reader) press the Yellow End Button on the Card Reader.
