Print service costs

Printing services are priced on a cost per page basis. The cost of a print job will vary depending on the type of operation, i.e. printing or scanning, and your print settings: colour, size etc.

It is possible to log-in to the printer with your student ID and password (or your guest print ID and password) if you have forgotten your student card.

For students with both a student ID card and a print/copy card - it is recommended that you transfer the balance of the print copy card to your student ID card.

autocard_dispensing.pngYou can recharge your printing credit from an automatic dispensing machine located in a branch library.

  • The vending machines, located in branch libraries, do not give change.
  • Ask I.T. can not change money.

Paper Cut functions

Paper Cut is the software that manages your print account. You can:

Check your credit balance

You can check your current print credit on a Library workstation.

Windows

The Print Balance will be automatically open on your screen.

The print balance will be available on the desktop.

MAC OS

Click the Paper Cut application in the dock labelled PCClient to view your balance.

Log-in to Papercut

On a Library workstation:

  • Click Details on the Paper Cut application
    (On MAC you will need to open the Paper Cut (PCClient) app in the dock).

Click the Details... link on the Paper Cut application.

  • Log-in to the Paper Cut application in your web browser with your student number (e.g. s1264567) and password.

View recent print jobs

You are able to view a history of your print transactions in the Paper Cut application. The list will indicate the type of print service, whether the job was completed and the cost associated with the job.

Transfer print credit

Start by logging in to Paper Cut, then:

  • Click Transfers in the Paper Cut menu

Ensure you have entered the correct student ID.

  • Enter the amount to transfer
  • Enter the student number (e.g. s1234567)
    Check this carefully.
  • Add a comment as a record
  • Click Transfer

Request a refund

In the event of an error where you are charged for a print service you do not receive, for example a paper jam etc. you may request a refund. Your request will be reviewed including the record of recent jobs in Paper Cut that indicate whether the job was completed successfully, failed, or was cancelled.

Start by logging in to Paper Cut, on a Library workstation, then:

  • Click Recent Print Jobs

Click Recent Print Jobs in the menu.

  • Locate the job in question
  • Click the Request refund link for the corresponding job

Locate the job in question and click the Request Refund link.

  • Please provide specific details on the printer error or problem which led to you being inappropriately charged for the job
  • Press Send

Provide specific details on the print job in question.

You will be returned to the Recent Jobs page and the status of your print job will be changed to "Refund Pending".

Your job will have the status of Refund Pending until the request is processed.

You will be emailed regarding your Refund Request. If your request was successful the print credit will be refunded to your account automatically.
