Print to PDF
You can convert documents and files to PDF in a few ways.
- To open PDF files you require Adobe Reader.
The Adobe PDF Printer
All Library public workstations have the Adobe PDF printer. This printer driver will convert a document or a web page to a PDF file from the print menu of the program you are using.
The advantage of this driver:
- It prints documents using the Adobe standard
- It has options large size options (for posters etc.)
Considerations:
- You may not have this software on your home machine as the Library licenses this software. If not, use a Library public workstation or try the following methods instead
Print Instructions
- Click the File tab in the Ribbon
- In BackStage view click Print in the left menu
- Select the Adobe PDF printer from the list of available printers
- If necessary adjust the PDF properties via the Printer Properties link
- Click Print
You will be asked to save the resulting PDF.
Other applications would include anything with a Print function
- Access the Print function through the relevant menu
- Select the Adobe PDF printer from the list of available printers
- Click Print
You will be asked to save the resulting PDF.
Save As... PDF for MS Office 2010
MS Office 2010 allows you to save an Office: document, spreadsheet, presentation, publication or Outlook item as a PDF.
The advantages:
- Quick, easy and built-in to MS Office 2010
Save As... Instructions
- Click the File tab in the Ribbon to access backstage view
- Click Save As...
- Change the Save As Type: option to PDF
- Name your file and choose a save location
- Click Save
You will be asked to save original document if necessary. Then you will be asked to save the PDF.
Adobe Acrobat Reader
Some documents are in a PDF format and must be viewed in a specific reader. Adobe Acrobat Reader is the only PDF file viewer that can open and interact with all PDF documents.- Use Adobe Reader to view, search, digitally sign, verify, print, and collaborate on Adobe PDF files.
- Always ensure you download an authentic version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe site.
