About Ask I.T.

The UQ Library Ask I.T. service

Ask I.T. is a section of the UQ Library setup to provide information technology help and training to UQ students. We can help you:

  • Troubleshoot problems with personal devices and provide advice on computer security
  • Assist with Library I.T. equipment including network printers or the UQ network student drive
  • Help you configure your devices for Eduroam wireless
  • Manage student account issues (including passwords and UQ Online Services like Learn.UQ or mySI-net)
  • Support various software including: MAC and Windows operating systems, MS Office, Open Office, internet browsers etc.
  • Lend keys for lockable desks in the postgraduate area and some other equipment

and more. We work hard to provide good customer service and value your feedback. Feel free to contact us in person at one of our help desks or by phone or e-mail.

Training

We provide training for UQ students so you get up to speed quickly during Orientation week and spend less time worrying about 'how it works' and can get on with your studies.

Orientation week

During Orientation Week we run training, and drop-in sessions, in your Study Managment Applications and UQ technologies, including: mySI-net, my.UQ, Student Email+, Learn.UQ (Blackboard) and your Student Internet Account and configuring Eduroam wireless on your devices.

Semester periods

During semester periods we teach short MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Prezi and iMovie classes.

Information for UQ Staff

Staff attending student training

  • Separate UQ Staff training is provided in conjunction with Staff Development

    If you are not at St. Lucia campus and notice some student I.T. training running it may be possible to book in and attend this training.

Customised MS Office training for your UQ courses

UQ academic staff can request specialised classes for their students by contacting Ask I.T. or your Librarian. For example you might require some specialised Word or Excel training or to make posters in PowerPoint.
