The Library Technology Service operates from Level 2 of Building 94.
Library Technology Service is staffed during normal office hours, but there is always an on-call person whenever any library is open.
The Library Technology Service maintains over 1,100 public workstations as well as computers for all Library staff. The Library Technology Service also manages the Library's servers and web hosting environment including the multiple web and database servers, proxy servers, hardware support for the Library Catalogue and software development for services such as the Weblaw gateway.
Word processing and web access is available on most public computers within the Libraries and clients are able to bring in their own laptops and plug in to the UQ network in a number of Library branches (see the Ask I.T. site for more information).
Dedicated email workstations are located in some Library branches. On other machines, email access may be restricted to non-core hours.
The Library's public computers are scattered widely thoughout all branches. In most branches there is also an eZone, an area dedicated to computer usage, and which has all the support services in close proximity. Many of these eZones are bookable to use for hands-on computing seminars and tutorials. The eZones in the Duhig Building are on level 2 and level 1
Library Technology Service participates in the provision of appropriate technology for users with disabilities. Computers with special equipment and software are found in the Fryer Library, on Level 4 of the Duhig Building.
Library Technology Service is responsible for ensuring that all Library Computers at which you can prepare your assignments are set up to print to networked printers.
Printing is done using copy cards. There are automatic card dispensing machines in most Libraries where copy cards can be purchased and value added to existing cards.
