LibQual+ Survey - September 2008
In 2008 the Library
conducted the LibQUAL+ Survey for the
first time. Developed by the Association of Research Libraries, this survey is
widely used in North America, the United Kingdom and Europe. It therefore
provides the opportunity for the Library to benchmark with major US and UK
university libraries.
The
Survey
Report (616 KB) was received from the ARL
late in 2008.
The Library appreciates the feedback that the 2000 respondents to the survey gave us.
You told us:
- 90% of you use the Library at least weekly for both information resources and for study spaces
- More than 94% of you are happy with the Library service, the way you are treated, and with how the Library supports your learning and research needs
You particularly liked:
- Our modern equipment that lets you easily access needed information
- The Library website which makes it easy for you to locate information on your own
- Library staff who are courteous, ready and willing to help, and have the knowledge to answer your questions
You thought we could do better at:
- Providing quiet space for when you want to work alone
- Providing easily accessible print and/or electronic journals and other electronic resources that you require for your work
- Offering more specialist support when you have complex needs
What are we going to do about it?
- We are allocating more space for
quiet study (234 KB) in the
Biological Sciences Library - Flexible furniture is being used to convert some group areas into quiet ones during exam time
- Quiet zones will be more clearly marked
- We will police the noise!
- We will work harder to make
information more accessible (225
KB) by:
- Improving your access to subject specialist help from your liaison librarian
- Improving point-of-need help on the Library website
- Giving more website navigation tips via posters and screen savers
The Library has also conducted the InSync Client Satisfaction Survey (formerly the Ambit Insights Survey and the Rodski Survey) every two years since 1999. This Australian survey is used by most University libraries in Australia, allowing for benchmarking with those libraries.
