Scope of current collecting
1. Languages collected or excluded
Primary religious texts are collected in the original language, and in English translation, where available, so the collection includes material in a range of languages. For secondary literature, works in English are preferred, but works in other languages are acquired as appropriate. Works in German are particularly important for the study of Christian theology and Islam.
2. Geographical areas collected or excluded
No region is excluded.
3. Chronological periods collected or excluded
No period is excluded.
4. Types (formats) of material collected
Primary texts and secondary literature are collected in both print and electronic format.
5. Publication dates
Current collecting focuses on material published in the last five years, but earlier material will be acquired to fill gaps in the collections as required.
6. Special considerations
There is a need to balance collecting activity between traditional Judaeo-Christian theology, other world religions (especially Islam and Asian religions) and other forms of religious experience.
