Preamble

The University of Queensland (UQ) Library is committed to supporting the University's research, and teaching and learning agenda. UQ Library's collection in this area supports the teaching and research activities of staff and students in the School of English, Media Studies and Art History and the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies. They are both part of the Faculty of Arts.

Scope of current collecting

1. Languages collected or excluded

Material in English is preferred. Good academic material in German, French, Spanish and Italian is collected.

2. Geographical areas collected or excluded

No geographical areas are excluded. The main focus for collecting is Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA. Also literature on any country with public service broadcasting is collected, or that of any countries where media legislation and policy are being studied by academics in EMSAH or the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies.

3. Chronological periods collected or excluded

No chronological period is specifically excluded.

4. Types (formats) of material collected

Material is collected in all forms, both physical and electronic. Primary sources are also collected - these include original broadcast material (films, television programs, radio broadcasts), play scripts, manuscripts, comic strips, and other cultural ephemera.

5. Publication dates

Current collecting focuses on material published in the last five years, but earlier material will be acquired to fill gaps in the collections as required.
