Preamble

The University of Queensland (UQ) Library is committed to supporting the University's research, and teaching and learning agenda. UQ librarians maintain subject assessments based on the Commonwealth Government Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative's Field of Research codes. The assessments reflect current trends at UQ, and respond to changes in direction through regular updating.

Purpose of the collection

UQ Library's collection in this area primarily supports the teaching and research activities of staff and students in the School of Education, the Teaching and Educational Development Institute (TEDI) and the Centre for Innovation in Professional Learning (CIPL). The collection in the area of Higher Education supports teaching, research and administration across all faculties. The School of Education is part of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.

The Library's collection may be searched via the Web.

The Library holds print and electronic book titles in the area. Experienced librarians develop the collection, and welcome input from academic staff. Relevant print collections are grouped under this classification number: LB. The following specialist book collections are available:

Primarily English language material is collected.

Australian material is collected. In particular, works on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education are collected. No geographical area is excluded.

No chronological periods are specifically excluded.

4. Types (formats) of material collected

Material is collected in print, electronic and multimedia formats.

5. Publication dates

The emphasis is on collecting recent publications (last 5 years), however older materials will be purchased to support teaching and research.
