Scope of current collecting
1. Languages collected or excluded
English language material is collected.
2. Geographical areas collected or excluded
No geographical areas are excluded. Items published in or about Queensland should be retained.
3. Chronological periods collected or excluded
No chronological periods are specifically excluded.
4. Types (formats) of material collected
Material is collected in all forms, both physical and electronic. The collection includes conference proceedings, symposium proceedings.
5. Publication dates
Material published more than ten years ago generally to be discarded unless other retention criteria apply.
6. Special considerations
It is desirable to periodically retain standard pharmacy reference books, ie
pharmacopoeias, drug indexes, encyclopaedias. The Library will not retain every
edition, however a periodic history of these is worth keeping.
Special consideration is given to material "Reserved for Course Readings"
within last 10 years.
Currently areas such as Health Policy and Planning, Burden of Disease, Nutritional Development and Complementary Therapies are of great interest at UQ.
The 1115 collection is supported by hospital funding of the UQ/Mater McAuley, Princess Alexandra Hospital/UQ and Herston Health Sciences Libraries.
